Our team is working hard to get Averia Collar ready for shipment to dog lovers everywhere! Due to COVID-19, our team wasn’t able to visit Averia Collar’s production facility in person for a while, and our team had to perform some parts of development remotely. Despite these setbacks, we remained determined to visit our production facility as soon as possible, and we recently supervised the production process of the first batch of Averia Collars in Shenzhen, China! We’re excited to share that journey with you in this post.
After many months of sweeping lockdowns and hard limits on who could travel to China, our team secured flights to Hong Kong in November 2022. After reaching Hong Kong, we had to quarantine for 10 days before we could travel freely. For the first few days, we had to wear masks in public places and take daily COVID-19 tests. After that, life became mostly normal, and we enjoyed the occasional opportunity to relax.
Following quarantine in Hong Kong, the team headed to Shenzhen. We had to take a PCR test at almost every stop along the way before checking into another quarantine hotel. The whole trip lasted about nine hours, and we were exhausted by the end of it.
To our surprise, the quarantine hotel itself turned out to be pretty normal. For 50 yuan per day (about $7 USD), the hotel provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We couldn't choose the menu, but the food was quite nourishing and diversified.
After spending eight days in the quarantine hotel, we each received a green health QR code that gave us the right to travel freely. We couldn’t wait to start getting involved in all parts of the production processes for the first batch of Averia Collars.
Today, we’re both relieved and thrilled to say our team in Shenzhen is able to communicate with contractors in person, make important decisions immediately, and ensure our high standards are met every step of the way—from our production facility to your pup’s first adventure with an Averia Collar. We’re one step closer to getting Averia Collars in customers’ hands, and we can’t wait for you to experience one for the first time!
